First elected to the Sixth Congressional District in 2006, former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who currently serves on Family Research Council’s board, was the first Republican woman to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota. Her focus in Congress was on national security, intelligence and foreign policy. She served on the House Permanent Committee on Intelligence, giving her a role as overseer of the Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agency and the rest of the U.S. intelligence community. She has visited the Middle East over 20 times, at times as part of a congressional delegation. The former congresswoman speaks professionally across the world, most recently in Jerusalem where she gave the keynote address for the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem during the six-day war. A candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2012 U.S. presidential election, she won the Ames Straw Poll in August 2011. He was one of the original members of the U.S. Army's Delta Force and privileged to ultimately command these elite warriors in combat operations. Later, he commanded all the Army's Green Berets as well as the Special Warfare Center and School.
In all, Lt. Gen. Boykin spent 36 years in the army, serving his last four years as the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence. He is an ordained minister with a passion for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging Christians to become warriors in God's Kingdom. Lt. Gen. Boykin and his wife Ashley enjoy spending time with their five children and growing number of grandchildren.
